Hey Friends,

Its time again for our annual fundraiser for Proniño!  I know its been and continues to be a hard financial time for must of us around the world... BUT... these kids are counting on us.  

Everyday more and more children are on the street.  The picture on this page was taken on Saturday, October 1st.  That very same day we were able to get Watler, a little smiling eleven year old, off the street and into the foundation.  One down, literally thousands more to go.

Proniño is an oasis from the suffering and abuse these children experience on a daily basis.  Illnesses untreated, beatings, explotation, rape, trafficking to other countries for unimaginable uses.  These kids have lived it. Yet they are still quick with a smile and full of hugs.  They are counting on us to save them.  We are not a huge foundation by any means, able to tap into the large sums of money thrown around to the big non-profits.  However for the children of the streets of Honduras, and the 80 plus boys who call us home, we are the only beacon of hope.  The only safe place where being a kid means you get to run around, get an education, play sports- not the alternative: looking for food, begging, and running from danger.

Help us give these kids a chance.  A two hour flight from Miami, where a Starbucks and Sushi Bar cover near every street corner, the world is different here.  I know they are not Americans, I know there is a lot of suffering in America at this time too- people love to point it out to me.  This, however, is different.  No matter how you look at it.  That boy in the picture slept like that last night, and he will sleep like that again today.  We need to keep our doors open, lives depend on Proniño.  No matter what country you live in or the color of these children's skin, it simply makes no difference.  No child deserves to live like this.  Not here, not anywhere, not in the year 2011.
