It has been 6 years since I was first diagnosed with stage 3 Melanoma. There has been some major strides in treatment but there still isn't a cure for stage 3 or 4 melanoma. Prevention and early detection remain the best way to beat the still rising rates of melanoma. Stage 1 and 2 melanoma has a very high cure rate of about 98%.
One demagraphic that has had an alarming incident rate is men over 50 years old. That's because of the damage we've done to our skin over the years, the reluctance to use sun screen and not having yearly skin checks from a dermatologist.
Please spend a couple of minutes watching the video below and to the right and then schedule a skin check. Please let me know if you need the name of a dermatologist!
Please pass this link along to everybody that you think could benefit from it. http://youtu.be/ln2oxrrUG6w
This year, my marathon run is dedicated to the memory of Jerry Sullivan. Melanoma took Jerry's life recently but it never beat him.
Thank you!
