Kevin Reece's Fundraising Page
Through my experiences on short term missions, I have witnessed firsthand children who are in desperate need. The Chicago Marathon will be a tremendous accomplishment for me but beyond that is being able to contribute to meeting the needs of desperate children in Africa. Last school year I told one of my middle school students that in different parts of the world people still dig holes to find drinking water. He responded saying "that is not true anymore, that was like over 70 years ago". A stark reminder of how privileged we are, yet how ignorant we can be.
I want to invite you to share in this experience with me, so that you to can contribute to making a difference for someone outside your relm of privilege.
Prayer will also help as I continue to train. Training is hard and a huge commitment. I am doing it. I never imagine being able to run 20 miles and I did it (painfully) on August 23. I have about 5 weeks left of hard training, keep me in your thoughts.
So on September 13, I made a second attempt at 20 miles and this was a successful run. I felt good about my time and pace. Leg cramps are a threat and I need to figure out the best way to prepare against such painfull and temporary debilitating attacks. Keep me in your prayers.
Blessings,
Kevin
