For those of you who don't know about the Polar Plunge, it is an event where people across the state and country jump into freezing water to raise money and awareness for Special Olympics.  Special Olympic athletes hold a special place in my heart and that is why I choose to participate in events such as the Polar Plunge on an annual basis now. 

My reasoning is this; if I can sustain a brief (it feels like hours, ha) plunge in freezing water to help fund some of their year-round events than it was more than worth the risk of hypothermia.  Really though, it is something I infalliably believe in and support year after year. 

I know the economy is having a bearing on all of our lives, but the Special Olympic athletes and their families depend on fundraisers such as this one.  As a bonus, your donation is 100% tax deductible.
