Kevin Stockton's Fundraising Page
Summit- December 27,2009
Thanks for all the help to get 2010 off on a great note. Hopefully 2010 will bring some more adventure to all of you. I plan to be heading to Russia to climb the highest mountain on the European continent as well as Argentina, to conquer the highest mountain in South America by years end. Hopefully, together we can climb closer to a cure!! Please check back for my next fundraising page.
Thank you again for all of your support!
Everyone,
Thank you for visiting my donation page. As some of you may already be aware, I am climbing Mount Kilimanjaro, the highest "freestanding" mountain in the world, to raise money for a truly exceptional organization. I have set a goal to raise $5,000 to help support these inspirational people and help in the quest to find a cure for Cystic Fibrosis.
Cystic Fibrosis is regarded by many as a marathon disease; it is a life-shortening genetic disease that greatly affects the lungs and their ability to process oxygen. Mucus build-up in the lungs makes each breath a struggle, similar to the hypoxic conditions experienced in high altitude climbing. Roughly 30,000 adults and children in the United States have the disease, and more are continuing to be diagnosed. Though there is currently no cure, advancements in medicine, drug treatments, and specialized medical care are helping to increase not only the life expectancy, but the quality of life for those affected as well.
We can make a difference. Donate. Spread the word. Learn.
I encourage you to learn more about this disease by visiting www.milesforcysticfibrosis.org and the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation website at www.cff.org.
All proceeds will go directly to the cause, and no money will go to myself or to pay for the trip. Please help with whatever you can, and know that all donations are greatly appreciated. Donating through this website is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to support my fundraising efforts.
Many thanks for your support -- and don't forget to forward this to anyone who you think might want to donate too!
