Dear Friend:
Thank you for visiting my Police Unity Tour fundraising page!
Donating through this website by credit card is simple, fast and totally secure. You can also donate with Paypal or credit cards on our Police Unity Tour Chapter IV website: http://www.policeunitytourchapter4.com/
I am riding 230 miles May 10-12, 2011, in the Police Unity Tour (PUT) on my bicycle on Virginia's roads and hills with my local Fairfax County Police Officers and other law enforcement, to raise awareness and funds to benefit the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial in DC, and to build the first National Law Enforcement Museum.
This is my fourth year to ride in PUT. Every rider rides in honor of a law enforcement officer who died the previous year, and has to raise a minimum of $1700. I have a personal goal of $5,000 or more.
This year I am riding for one of Virginia's officers who died in 2010, Trooper Mark Barrett, end of watch September 14, 2010. Trooper Barrett drowned in a water training drive in Lake Anna. He is survived by his wife and two children. http://www.odmp.org/officer/20529-trooper-mark-david-barrett Trooper Barrett is one of 152 law enforcement who died in the line of duty in 2010.
This ride honors our fallen officers of 2010. Our Virginia Chapter IV group also rides in honor of the six Fairfax County officers who lost their lives over the years protecting our Fairfax County communities. It feels great to give back and let the families and officers of our fallen know that their officers will never be forgotten.
A total of 152 federal, state and local law enforcement officers died in the line of duty in 2010, according to the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund (NLEOMF). Their names have been engraved on the Memorial walls in April and will be dedicated on May 13th after we finish our ride. Our 2010 fallen officers is a dramatice increase over the 117 officer fatalities in 2009, which marked a 50-year low. In 2011, sadly over 60 officers have died already. Please visit the Memorial page to learn more about our fallen officers: http://www.nleomf.org/
Please give whatever makes you feel good and get me pumped up to ride on. You can give on this website, send me a check, give me cash, support a fundraiser at Glory Days Grill, or visit the PUT4 website to give: http://www.policeunitytourchapter4.com/
Many thanks for your support -- and please forward this to others to donate too!
