My name is Kevin O'Shea and I am a Canadian living and working in Kobe, Japan. On March 11, 2011 at 2:46pm, life for everyone in Japan changed forever. A massive earthquake, followed by a devastating tsunami took the lives of thousands and left hundreds of thousands displaced. The ongoing nuclear crisis is causing more suffering.
I have a strong connection with this country and want to do what I can. I am a runner and have decided to "go for gold" in order to help! I am going to run my first ultra marathon. In June, 2011 I will run 60km ( 37.5 miles) in Kobe, Japan.
My preparation for this run as well current news and events about the tragedy in Japan will be detailed on my interactive blog:
http://runningtohelpjapan.blogspot.com/
(Once I compete this ultra marathon, I will take part in other races and create more events to fundraise for the children of Japan.)
Please donate what you can to help the children of northern Japan.
Save the Children has launched an urgent appeal on behalf of children in Japan so it can:
* Deliver support to help children overcome the shock and stress that the disaster and devastation left in its aftermath.
* Establish Child-Friendly Spaces to provide a protective environment for children and allow parents much-needed time to dedicate to their families’ recovery.
* Provide support materials for parents, teachers and other key caregivers.
* Work with local communities to train volunteers in counseling techniques to help children manage their stress and feelings of loss and uncertainty.
Thank you for visiting my fundraising page!
Donating through this website is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to support my fundraising efforts.
Many thanks for your support -- and don't forget to forward this to anyone who you think might want to donate too!
