Team Maddy
Hi,
I'm Maddy Stannis and I am 18 months old. My mom and dad are helping me learn to walk and I think that I might be a handful because I love to pull up on furniture and throw things on the floor. I love to play with my dog Reagle but he doesn't like that I pull his tail and ears, but he makes up for it by licking my face. I have Down Syndrome and am lucky enough to be part of the Down Syndrome Association of Wisconsin. They are a wonderful non- profit organization that helps promote awareness, assistance and acceptance of Down Syndrome. This is important to me because as I get older they will be able to help me, like providing a special camp called "Lose the Training Wheels" in which I can learn to ride a two wheeler all by myself, maybe next year I can go. My mom and dad are also thankful to have them because they put on programs that help me learn and grow!!
Because DSAW is a non- profit organization they count on the generous support of everyone to help them continue their mission. That is why I am writing to you, on September 26, 2010 they have their biggest fundraiser of the year, the Down Synrome Awareness walk at the Milwaukee County Zoo! All of you were so generous last year and "Team Maddy" was able to capture 4th place in the donation category. Well this year I am a little older and so I have decided that I would like two very important things. First, I would like all of you that are able to come out and walk with me (I am trying very hard to be able to walk before then). If you come to the zoo we can check out all the animals together as the walk goes right through the center of the Zoo. If you would add your name to my page, fundraise for this great cause and then join me for the walk my mom and dad have promised to have a barbecue afterwards to thank you all for your love and support (I heard my dad is the man on the grill). Secondly, if you are not able to walk with me that day please donate and send to others that may be interested in this great cause!
I am very lucky to be born into this world with such great family and friends!! Thank you for all that you have done for me and my family and we look forward to seeing you in September!!
Love,
Maddy
