November 1, 2005 - it is a day I will never forget. I remember exactly what I was wearing, what time it was when I heard those dreaded words " You have breast cancer". How could that be I was only 47, had mammograms every year, breast fed 3 children, exercised, kept my weight down, did not smoke etc...I did all the right things. It has been quite a journey and i have been blessed with meeting some of the most wonderful people through this journey. Six months later my sister was diagnosed and we both tested positive for the BRCA2 gene. I had 9 surgeries in 4 years. Up til this point I have been so fortunate that I have not had a reoccurence but the same is not true for my sister or for many of my dear friends. This is where you come in, please help support Gilda's Club which is a non profit organization which provides so many valuable services to cancer patients and their friends and families. They are able to continue to provide these services through private donations. I don't know how I would have made it through the first few years without the love and support and friendships I develped at Gilda's Club. They were my safe haven. Please consider visitng my first giving page and making a donation to an incredible organization that provides so much to cancer patients/families..
