Pictured here is Brooks. He has had a rough couple of months but none of this has affected his amazing spirit. You see when RESCUE found him at the pound he had been there for nearly two weeks with a large wound on his front left foot. No one wanted to adopt him with his wound as it would require money to treat. So Brooks went on the kill list. Animal Control sent out pleas asking the rescue community to step in to save him. So RESCUE went down to meet him and what a great dog they found. Even though Brooks could barely stand on his painful foot he was just your typical happy-go-lucky Lab! When we brought him into a quiet room so we could interact with him and get a better look at his foot we didn't realize that the room had toys in it. Brooks ran after the toys, jumping around, throwing the toys, prancing - even on just three feet! Of course we had to save this sweet guy! We didn't know what was causing his wound but that didn't matter. He was coming with us. I'm happy to say after many tests, x-rays and antibiotics Brooks is completely healthy and requires no further treatment. His wound turned out to be a bone infection. We don't know how it happened but thankfully we were able to stop the infection and save his toe/foot. Thanks to the love and care of his amazing foster parents Brooks is now ready for adoption!  He loves toys and when excited he runs around with one or two in his mouth! He has learned how to "sit" for treats and when he gets his dinner. He is a young lab so he still needs some work with his manners but is very smart and picks things up very fast. In typical lab fashion he loves to carry things in his mouth, however Brooks will take things accessable to him when your looking, just to get your attention. :0 He does not chew on whatever he gets. He is very affectionate and will just lay there for hours and enjoy his rubs. He loves to sleep on the couch with his head on your lap. He loves to run and slide across the floor, sometimes he forgetting he has no breaks!!"
