Kim Bookless' Penguin Plunge Page
It's that time of year again - Penguin Plunge time! I'm currently in my fourth year with Special Olympics Vermont as the Event Manager. Each year, I plan a number of events but the majority of my time is spent planning the Penguin Plunge event series. This series accounts for almost half of our annual operating budget and brought in a total of $424,00 in 2011. We had over 1,300 people jump in the lake last year...this year we're aiming for 1,500+!
Quick Facts
I've plunged 9 times in 3 years
I will plunge 3 times in 2012 in N. Bennington, Burlington and Newport, VT
The water temp hovers between 32-34 F
The coldest air temp was at the 2009 N. Bennington Penguin Plunge - 4 F ...without the windchill (-8F with).
My least favorite part of taking the plunge is the anticipation...burrrrrr....
My favorite part of the plunge is the costumes, the music, the excitement...come see for yourself!
The CHALLENGE
Each year, as an office, we compete to see which employee has the largest plunge team or raises the most money. This year, I'm bringing my A game. My personal goal is $3,000 and a team of 15. Please consider sponsoring my plunge or joining my plunge team.
