Kim Bookless's Fundraising Page
Hi friends and family!
On Sat., Jan. 29th, Feb. 5th and Feb. 12th, I will once again be taking the Penguin Plunge into Lakes Paran, Champlain and Memphremagog to raise funds for the 852 athletes of Special Olympics Vermont. The first year I participated in these three plunges, I did so because I was the Fundraising Events Manager for SOVT. I didn't think it was fair to encourage and ask others to jump in the FREEZING water, if I wasn't willing to do it myself.
Two years later, I'm still the Fundraising Events Manager for SOVT and I'm still planning the Penguin Plunge series, but I plunge because it's FUN! Here are some fun facts:
- In two years I've plunged six times
- I've raised $1365.00
- The coldest day was Sat., Jan. 30th in Bennington - Air temperature was 6 degrees, with feel like temperature of -4 degrees
- Insider tip: the worst part is the anticipation!
This year my goal is $2500! Over the past three years, SOVT has experienced a 30% increase in athlete particiaption (10% each year). As our organization reaches more athletes we require additional funding to provide increased opportunities and high quality sports training and competition.
I hope you'll consider supporting my plunge by making a small donation or taking the plunge yourself! Remember, anything helps!
Think warm thoughts!
Kim
