Kim Burkland-Ward's Fundraising Page
Hello Friends,
During the 2008 power outage here in New Hampshire I was at one of my neighborhood pizza places. Behind me was a family with two young children. I couldn’t help but overhear them. They were struggling to figure out how to feed their kids and to also have some food themselves. They were also living out of the local motel. It broke my heart. They were on my mind for days after and I wished I could do something beyond handing them money.
There’s a new face of homelessness in our country – homeless families with children. Centers across the country are seeing an increase in families, even those with college educations, forced to leave their rental homes and bounce around from motel to motel with no money for food to feed their children.
Thank you for visiting my Personal Fundraising Page for the Emmaus Cycle for the Shelter event. Emmaus is an innovative shelter that helps families gain the support they need to get back on their feet and while maintaining their dignity. It’s an impressive program.
Now there is something I can do beyond giving money. I plan on riding 100 miles to raise money to support this innovative homeless shelter. Please join me by either riding too or donating. Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. Many thanks for your support and any amount is welcome -- and thank you for forwarding this to anyone who you think might want to donate!
