Kim Hills and Annmarie Rita, teachers at RHAM High School are asking students, staff, and community members to get physically involved in a wonderful cause. They will run the Hebron Ghost Run with students and faculty running parts of it with them.(http://hebronct.com/pdfs/parksandrec/Community_Events.pdf ) The group is doing this to raise money for the Connecticut Children's Medical Center in memory of a former RHAM student athlete, Nikki Giampolo. Nikki was a wonderful person, exceptional student, and excellent runner. In July of 2001, Nikki was diagnosed with osteosarcoma, a rare type of bone cancer that affects young people. Nikki's dream was to help other children with cancer by increasing awareness so they would be diagnosed as early as possible. It was also her wish to give more children with cancer hope of finding a cure by funding research programs. Nikki died just six months after her diagnosis, on New Years Day 2002. Please help us keep her memory and dream alive by raising money for children with cancer and motivating young people to be physically active.
