Kimberly Cohen's Fundraising Page
Hi everyone,
It is that time of year where I raise funds for our YMCA. As a non-profit organization, we have the ability to make sure no one is turned away from membership or programs at our facility. In 2010, one of my main goals is to help provide supportive programs to help youth and adults obtain a healthy lifestyle by increasing activity and improving nutrition choices as well as prevet disease. We are teaming up with local hospitals, doctors offices, schools, senior centers, and community agencies to refer people who need support and education to achieve maximal wellness. With our Reach Out For Youth and Families program, every one regardles of ability to pay, will be able to have the same access to a healthy lifestyle.
In 2010 we are launching exercise programs to support people that are currently battling cancer, diabetes, MS, and arthritis. With exercise, people inflicted with these diseases are able to better battle and in some cases of Type II diabetes, cure their disease. We are in the process of finding people to help us trial our new programs. I met a mom who lives in Sharon, MA who's husband was layed off and were struggling to make ends meet. Then to make matters worse, she was layed off. She has diabetes and it is important for her health for her to continue to exercise. I encouraged her to apply for Reach Out For Youth subsidy for her family.
