His Toy Store
In December, with the donations we receive, Hope For New York sets up several ‘toy stores’ that are run by HFNY volunteers at neighborhood churches. These churches invite low-income families to shop for toys for their children. These parents come to the church (sometimes for the first time!) and shop for toys – at no cost.
I volunteered at a His Toy Store last year and it was such a rewarding experience. Especially in this economy when EVERYONE is hurting...it makes it so much more important to donate. Tim Keller speaks often about how as Christains our giving is to be sacrificial, Luke Chapter 21 says:
1As he looked up, Jesus saw the rich putting their gifts into the temple treasury. 2He also saw a poor widow put in two very small copper coins. 3"I tell you the truth," he said, "this poor widow has put in more than all the others. 4All these people gave their gifts out of their wealth; but she out of her poverty put in all she had to live on."
Please donate on this page, no amount is too small, or if you like to shop please buy a toy (or two!) in the price range of $15-$25 and bring it to Redeemer on Sunday!
