Dear Special Friends,
I don't believe I've ever done this before, but I'm concerned about a need in Israel that needs to be addressed immediately, so I'm appealing to you as like-minded friends and family members for your prayerful help in making a donation to CFOIC.
As you know, David and I've been involved with CFOIC for a very long time. Initially, David discovered the organization and after a long talk with Sondra Baras, and a look at the books, we felt that this was one place where we could make a contribution to Israel and know that our contribution would go directly where we wanted it to and not be diverted to some project we hadn't agreed to. It is this integrity of CFOIC that has caused a financial crisis and me to write this letter to you today.
In the last six months or so, CFOIC was chosen by CUFI - Christians United for Israel - to be the recipient of several very large donations, earmarked for particular projects. We are very thankful for this and are thrilled that John Hagee and his associates found the integrity of CFOIC to be the vehicle for them to work through in Israel. Of course, these donations were announced with great joy to the CFOIC membership. Additionally, we made several appeals for specific urgent needs for the disengagement in Israel and those needs were met with a resounding response from you, our friends and supporters. Apparently, people thought we were "doing very well" and donations to our general fund, which is what keeps the doors open and the U.S. office running, have dropped off. Oops! Because of all of this, I am asking you if you can and will help.
Right now, CFOIC has a tremendous need for $20,000 in non-earmaked funds. These funds will help us to meet the shortfall and, if normal donations pick back up, we'll be able to make it through the remainder of 2008. This is the only time this has happened and, with God's help, we'll be able to get the boat righted and back on course.
None of us know what to expect in the economic future of America, or the world for that matter. Many of us are reeling in our spending and preparing for a long ride, but as we do this, we must keep Israel in focus -- this is not a time for us to draw back from praying for and supporting Israel. In fact, this is the time, more than ever, for us to link arms and stand with Israel as directed in Genesis 12. As you pray about this offering today, will you please also pray about helping CFOIC on a regular monthly basis. No donation is too small and all are gratefully appreciated.
