Dear Family and Friends:
On May 6th 2012, I will be participating in the Broad Street Run in Philadelphia. The Broad Street Run is a 10 mile course running from the northern edge of the city to the Philadelphia Navy Yard on the Delaware Waterfront. I am running this race as a member of the Racing to Register Team (RTR). RTR is a local, non-profit organization and its goal is to bring attention to the need to increase the number of potential marrow, stem cell and cord blood donors. RTR uses endurance sports as its platform.
RTR was started as a website in 2011 in order to inspire people to become potential bone marrow donors by joining the donor registries by Tom Kramer as his wife Pam has a form of Leukemia and needs a donor. Tom undertook the mission of completing one marathon, two half Ironman and one full Ironman race in just one year to inspire others to join the Registry.
I have been inspired by Tom and Pam’s story and I am honored to be representing Team RTR in this year’s Broad Street Run. Running and completing :) the Broad Street Run has been a goal of mine for the last several years. I couldn’t think of a better way to achieve my personal goal then by partnering with an organization that has such an important goal. A goal to save lives. To date, RTR has registered over 1,300 people and has facilitated two potential patient matches for patients.
Please join me in supporting RTR and Tom and Pam’s goal to increase awareness on the need to increase donors and find matches for Pam and the other 10,000 patients in need of bone marrow transplants.
Donating through this website is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to support my fundraising efforts.
I really appreciate you visiting my page. Many thanks in advance for your support! Please forward this to anyone who you think might want to donate too! I will be thinking of you as I am enjoying the various sights and sounds of Philadelphia from a runner’s point of view!
Love you all,
Kimmie
