Kim Rothman's Fundraising Page
THANK YOU! for visiting my fundraising page and thank you in advance for your contributions! The big day (Sept. 12th) is almost here! Elizabeth Bixler and I just finished our last training ride – 67 miles around Owasco Lake. We are all set and ready to go!
As many of you know, the ride is "85" miles around Cayuga Lake (I put that in quotes, because in reality it is more like 90!) and it starts in the dark - gathering at 6am at Stewart Park. Rain or shine. As we head out we get to tackle two tough climbs right away. Hills always make me think of John Allis -- that's him on the left and me in purple. John taught me how to ride when I was in Boston, and he was known to ride up behind a sagging rider, place his hand on the rider's back and push him or her along until they could get back into the pack. I'm sure I'll be wishing for John on Sept. 12th right around 7am!
The purpose of the AIDS Ride is raise money for the Southern Tier AIDS Program (STAP). STAP provides comprehensive and compassionate care to people in our community and region with AIDS/HIV and Hepatitis C, and also provides crucial education and outreach to the community at large. STAP has been serving in the Southern Tier since 1984. This is the 11the year for the AIDS Ride, which provides a huge portion of the funding needed by STAP to fulfill its mission.
100% of the funds raised by the Ride go directly to STAP. Last year the ride raised over $278,000, and I hope to be part of the effort to meet (and EXCEED!) that amount this year.
Thank you so much for your support!
