CHARLESTON MIRACLE LEAGUE

2009 Charleston Miracle League - Bridging the Gap Through Baseball (CRBR) Charleston,  South Carolina

Joey & Kissy Gillam - GO Cardinals

Today marks my 4th year helping coach the Cardinals.  This morning was opening day for the spring season.  We had 14 Cardinals ranging in age from 15 to 5.  The 15 year old James was at short stop stopping balls with his foot while playing catch with his dad in between batters.  Wade in left field was checking out the planes in the sky and bugs in the ditch behind the fence.  Cameron was playing catch with as many pretty buddies as he could recruit.  Tyler was touring the field with his buddy's hand tightly grasped.

The pitching mound was crowded as Kingsley, Corey, and Sheldon all staked their claim.  Callie was wheeling her way from right to left field visiting players along the way with her Poppa close behind.  Harrison was giving my son Gregory a run for his money as he darted in every direction.  Junior was quite content with his buddy as he awaited his turn at bat.  Emmett a first timer was trying to soak it all in.  Kaitlyn who was sick most of last season was happy to be back out playing again.  Shy Brandon with the help of his Dad was doing his best to get re-aquanted with the game although it was obvious that he had been practicing hitting during the off season.  I was sitting up against the fence in left center with Hunter reclining beside me and the 5 year old Charlie sitting in my lap.  I didn't realize how much I missed playing baseball with the Cardinals.  Man I love this game.

Once a year we raise money through Bridging the Gap through Baseball in connection with the Cooper River Bridge Run.  Thanks to donations the Cardinals play 8 Saturday games in the spring and fall all for free.  Any donation no matter how small will be greatly appreciated.  I also ask for your prayers for our players, parents, volunteers, and staff.

With God's help we will do mighty things... Psalm 60:12

All donations are tax deductible and can be made through this web site or by mailing a check made out to the Charleston Miracle League.  For web site donations First Giving takes a small percentage of the proceeds.  Thanks and God Bless you all.
