World Vision

Elena & Emma for World Vision

Elena & Emma for World Vision

Thank you for visiting our fund-raising page!

Our 4-H pledge is: "I pledge my head to clearer thinking, my heart to greater loyalty, my hands to larger service, and my health to better living, for my club, my community, my country, and my world."  This past spring we decided to do a World Vision project for 4-H.  Basically, our project has three steps: learn more about World Vision, share information about World Vision with others, and create plans to raise money.  Now that we've accomplished that, we invite YOU to participate!  =D

Did you know...?

  • Nearly 30,000 children die every day, most from hunger or preventable diseases
  • child dies every 15 seconds due to water-related illnesses.
  • More than 1 billion children suffer a lack of proper nutrition, safe drinking water, decent sanitation facilities, health-care services, shelter, education and information.

World Vision, a Christian relief and development organization, works in nearly 100 countries to help children and families tackle the causes of poverty. With the partnership of people like us, they are making a real and lasting difference for millions of people -- and that's why we wholeheartedly support their work.

I (Emma) am a Christian, and my Bible says, "Whoever oppresses the poor shows contempt for their Maker, but whoever is kind to the needy honors God" (Proverbs 14:31, New International Version).  I think this verse means that if I help people who need help, God will be pleased.  World Vision helps me serve the poor.

I (Elena) think we can reach this goal because we believe that God will bless our effort.  The Bible says, "... If God has been generous with you, he will expect you to serve him well.  But if he has been more than generous, he will expect you to serve him better" (Luke 12:48, Contemporary English Version).  To me this verse means that since God has given me a very plentiful life, he expects me to serve him and give more since I'm more fortunate than those we're raising money for.  I want to serve God by serving others.

We have set a goal of raising $1000 for the Maximum Impact Fund by the end of 2011.

This is a special opportunity to help children and families around the world who are in desperate need.  There are a few different ways you can get involved in our project.

•Learn more by exploring the World Vision website; you can start at http://www.worldvision.org/content.nsf/about/world-vision-faq?Open&lpos=bot_txt_FAQs.
•Pray that every person World Vision serves will experience "life in all its fullness."
•Share our website with others that you think may want to participate.
•Join with us in giving gifts that bring life-changing help and hope.  Your donations will demonstrate compassion and offer hope to a poor child, family, or village.

When you donate to the Maximum Impact Fund, your gift will enable our experienced and dedicated field staff to answer specific needs that might otherwise go unmet. Since 96 percent of the World Vision staff work in their own countries, they have an unrivaled understanding of how your gift can best serve the children and families in their area. Your gift will provide just what a child, family, or community needs for a brighter tomorrow.

This is a wonderful way to express your support for the world's poor. Thanks for joining us in this effort.
