Dear Family & Friends,
Logan continues to make miraculous progress because of your tremendous support. Your listening ears, helping hands, thoughtful prayers, encouraging smiles, and yes, financial support, have made all of the difference in the world.
I know many of you witness the amazing strides Logan makes each time that you see him. This past year he was in a typical first grade classroom all day. He was a member of the class and had friends in his class who wanted to play with him and be his friend. He learned to read and began to write his own stories (about dinosaurs and sharks, of course). He got is first Outstanding on his report card in Math. This school year, he is attending Colin Powell ES, where Mommy teaches andhe is fully included in a 2nd grade classroom.
Outside of school, Logan learned to swim in the deep end, go down waterslides and do a fantastic cannonball. He also rode his first loop rollercoaster (twice)! He is becoming very independent and helpful around the house. He makes his bed daily and feeds the dog because it is "his responsibilty." He has learned to do the monkeybars and can almost tie his shoes. He continues to have a warm, bubbly smile and great sense of humor! I know those of you who see him periodically are amazed by his gains. We are all amazed and overjoyed at his progress.
This progress is possible because of Walk for Autism-Virginia. The Walk provides mini-grants for children with autism in the Northern Virginia area. These mini-grants are used to fund many of the therapies we use with Logan including, Speech Therapy, Occupational Therapy and Applied Behavioral Analysis. These therapies can make significant positive changes in these children's lives. Unfortunately, these therapies cost tens of thousands of dollars per year & are not covered by health insurance. This leaves many families in financial turmoil or children without proper treatment.
The money you contribute goes directly to helping children. Imagine the impact you can have on a child's life and future. Imagine, if you can, that it was your child....Logan is my child and we cannot express in words the joy we feel about his progress, the hope we feel for his future, and the love we feel for our supportive friends and family. God Bless you all!
We would love to have you join our team, Finding Logan, to walk on Saturday, October 23rd at the Prince William County Fairgrounds. This year, Walk for Autism – Virginia will also host a 5K run. Kolette will be running her first 5K!!!
There will be live music, food, a silent auction, resource fair and lots of kids activities! Please let us know if you'd like to walk with us this year. Last year, Logan had a team of 25 family/friends there to support him....we'd LOVE to see you there this year! You can get more information and register online at www.walkforautismva.org. This year, every registered walker will receive a walk for Autism-Virginia T-shirt.
