Thank you so much for visiting my fundraising page for Insulindependence.

For those of you who might not know I was diagnosed in August 2009 with Type I Diabetes (the kind that doesn't go away!).  Type I is when your pancreas decides to stop doing its vital job, producing insulin.  This makes me totally dependent on insulin injections for the rest of my life...or until we find a cure. 

I have been chosen to take part in the Triabetes/Triabuddies week long program in Arizona.  I feel very honored since only 15 kids were chosen from applicants across the nation!  I am paired with a diabetic Triathlete who is competing in the Ironman race on November 22.  This happens to be my 13th birthday!

Over the summer and during that week I will learn all that I can about how to best manage myself, my disease, and my love of sports through nutrition, exercise, and state of the art technology.  This is a chance of a lifetime.  I am trying to reach my  fundraising goal of $3000 to participate but I would love to exceed this minimum.  All additional money raised will  go towards  research and education.
