Thank you for visiting my Camp Adventure fundraising page. I am a 3 time Olympian and 16 time National Champion in the sport of XC skiing. I have accomplished this despite having type one diabetes. When I was first diagnosed my doctors told me that I would not be able to ski at an Olympic level. I have proved them wrong. Now I share my story of overcoming my diagnosis and achieveing my goals at diabetes summer camps around the country. It is personally important to me that children with diabetes do not allow limits to be placed on their dreams.
Caribou's "Camp Aventure" provides diabetic children with unique experiences in Northern Maine. I have been lucky enough to participate in two of these special experiences. Last summer I shot Biathlon rifles and participated in a running/shooting relay race at the Nordic Heritage Center in Presque Isle. This past June I went for an eight mile downriver canoe with the group. The impressive organization of the counselors and medical staff provides safe and worry free adventuresfor the campers. I believe that these experiences open the eyes of the diabetic children to the idea that they can indeed do anything they set their minds to with diabetes. I have chosen to work to raise money for the camp and participate in ride Aroostook on August 9th-11th. Please help me reach my fundraising goal for this great organization by donating on my page. Thanks Kris Freeman
