I became involved with Charleston Miracle League my freshman year. It is my favorite volunteer event. The kids show up every week with huge smiles and positive attitudes, despite the obstacles they have to overcome. Some of the kids will swing the bat seven times and never make contact, but they never give up, and when they finally do make contact their enthusiasm fills the field. I love watching the kids run, walk, stumble, or roll across home plate because they are so proud of themselves and seeing their smiles first thing in the morning  is a great way to start to my weekend. The families that come are so kind and upbeat. They are so grateful to have the volunteers there and enjoy watching their kids have fun playing one of America’s favorite pass time games.
