In October 2008, I was diagnosed with Lupus, SLE.  For the longest time, they didnt know what was wrong with me, so in an odd way..its somewhat of a relief to finally have an answer (even though its not exactly the answer one would want). I was very sick for a long time.  I almost died and had to have 3 blood transfusions.  I found out I also have severe RA (rheumatoid arthritis) which isnt uncommon in Lupus patients.  I am much better now btw...I still have pain every day for the most part, but it isnt to the extent that it was before referred to my awesome Rheumatologist :)

I could sit around and feel sorry for myself .."oohhh poor me..I have a disease with no cure"..but that wont change what is.  I have Lupus, and no matter how much crying I do, nothing will change that fact.  But I can hope for a better tomorrow, not just for me, but for our children and our children's children.  There isnt much I can do as an individual against a disease that is SO MUCH BIGGER than I am, but I can try to spread awareness of it and hopefully educate.  One day, they will find a cure, its just a matter of time...
