Hey Friend! Thank you for visiting my fundraising page.
Once again, I'm participating in Team Sjögren's in support of my friend, Estrella. Estrella struggles every day against this lack of moisture that has caused many other medical and dental problems. I am amazed at how she manages to push through the pain and enjoy all the fun and challenges that come with raising a 3 year old boy.
This year will be a little different for me as I will be walking the 6 miles of Wharf to Wharf while 5 1/2 months pregnant. Trav is insisting that running would be too "bouncy" for the baby and I think it might be harder for me too. So I will walk fast with my mommy friends/teammates and enjoy the 40+ bands along the way, from Santa Cruz Boardwalk to Downtown Capitola.
Sjögren’s syndrome is a chronic autoimmune disease in which people’s white blood cells attack their moisture-producing glands. Today, as many as four million Americans are living with this disease.
Although the hallmark symptoms are dry eyes and dry mouth, Sjögren’s may also cause dysfunction of other organs such as the kidneys, gastrointestinal system, blood vessels, lungs, liver, pancreas, and the central nervous system. Patients may also experience extreme fatigue and joint pain and have a higher risk of developing lymphoma. Donating through this website is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to support my fundraising efforts. Be sure to check with your employer, as some will match donations.
Many thanks for your support -- and don't forget to forward this to anyone who you think might want to donate too!
Have an awesome summer!
Kristel
