Three and a half years ago, I began working at a non-profit organization called Glide. Glide represents unconditional love and acceptance. Among our many programs, we provide meals, shelter, childcare and afterschool programs for working families, and free health care in partnership with UCSF and St. Francis Memorial Hospital (CHW). In September 2010, I was named co-Executive Director at Glide. I am proud to represent the excellent services delivered at Glide and what Glide stands for in our community.
Over the last few years, we’ve all felt the effects of the economy in our lives and we have each made choices about where to scale back our expenses. Glide’s clients are no different from us. Our clients include working parents whose hours were cut back, those standing in line for a free meal before or after work in order to stretch their dollars, and those who lived paycheck to paycheck before losing a job. Glide serves as a ‘safety net’ to many in our community.
Because of the dramatically increased demand on our services, Glide needs your help to keep our programs viable. Please consider a meaningful gift to Glide this holiday season. Your support will bring relief and hope to people who turn to Glide in need. Even though you may never meet the people your gifts are helping, please know that their lives are changed because of your caring.
