Dear Police Unity Tour Supporter:
On May 9, 2011, I will begin my third journey with the Police Unity Tour in New Jersey. My 300 mile bicycle journey begins in East Hanover, NJ and concludes three days later Washington, D.C. I am riding in memory of not only my two personal friends, Sgt. Paul Starzyk-MPD and Ofc. Leonard Garcia-RPD, but all those who have given the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty.
In May 1997, the Police Unity Tour began with only 18 riders who rode from Florham Park, NJ to Washington, D.C. Those 18 riders raised 18,000.00 for the NLEOMF. In 2010, the Police Unity Tour was comprised of 1,200 riders who raised a total of 1.325 million dollars. 1.1 million of that total was used to restore the worn names on the marble walls of the National Police Officers Memorial.
This year the Police Unity Tour is celebrating it’s 15th year.
