Kristin Driscoll's Fundraising Page
Thank you for visiting my fundraising page for the South End Knitters! I recently joined this group of fun folks who like to knit and this will be my first "group" project. The SEK just knit a lamp post cozy and raised money for the Animal Rescue League of Boston!
We are now working on blanket squares that will be sewn together during the 3rd Annual Pine Street Inn Knit-a-Thon in November 2009! All the knit-a-thon knitters will gather to assemble the squares into blankets. All funds raised will go to Pine Street’s mission of placing homeless people into permanent housing. And the blankets? Each homeless person who is successfully placed receives one, as a very special housewarming present!
I just increased my fundraising target to $500! I am so excited about this cause as Pine Street is located in my neighborhood, the South End. While I don't have statistics at the ready, I know that more and more people are facing homelessness in the city of Boston and nationally due to the economy. Pine Street assists the homeless population in Boston through emergency shelter and street outreach but empowers them through job training and affordable housing.
For those that know me, I'm not a runner or bike rider (maybe a walker?), so you can't pledge $1 per mile but you can pledge per square I knit! Make my fingers do the hard work! My goal is 35 squares (enough to make one blanket)! All kidding aside, thanks for your support on this great opportunity to raise funds, awareness, and warm handknit blankets for those in need!
