On July 11, 2009 I will be participating in the Twin Cities Lifetime Fitness Triathlon near Lake Nokomis in Minneapolis, MN. As some of you know I’ve wanted to complete a triathlon for many years now. In addition to proving to myself that I am capable of exertion for that length of time (I know I’m not going to die, but I’m still a little freaked out about not being able to sit around and snack all morning that day…) I am also using this as an opportunity to raise money for the best non-profit organization in the Twin Cities: Compassionate Action for Animals.
I’ve loved animals even longer than I’ve wanted to do a triathlon. Compassionate Action for Animals (CAA) works to create respect and justice for all the animals in our world by reducing their suffering. I’ve set an attainable goal of raising $285 dollars. This money will help fund outreach programs, cooking classes, vegan food giveaways, nationally recognized conferences, as well as other amazing educational events.
Omnivores: To further prove to you how excited I am about adventures and animals I dare you to go vegetarian for a week or vegan for 3 days. If you can show me that you’re up for one of those challenges I will match your donation!
