LiPHe in the Grand Valley is a support group for pulmonary hypertension patients who live in western Colorado. Pulmonary Hypertension is high blood pressure in the arteries of the lungs. It is a rare, chronic, progressive disease with treatments but no cure. Symptoms include shortness of breath, chronic fatigue, fainting, right heart failure, dizziness, swelling and chest pain.
Anna Bower and Kristine Green (both pulmonary hypertension patients) founded this group in October of 2013 with the vision of fostering a caring community of empowered patients that provide support for each other as they educate others and raise awareness within our area. We are just getting started and are proud to declare that we have an AMAZING group!
On April 12, 2014 we look forward to hosting The PHenomenal Mile in Grand Junction, Colorado. It is a one mile (walk, stroll, bunny-hop, run, ride, skip, roll... I think you get the point) paved loop at Sherwood Park designed to raise awareness and critical research funds for pulmonary hypertension. We chose The PHenomenal Mile to join with others across America in supporting Team PHenomenal Hope- a group of four women competing in a 3,000 mile bike race to honor PH patients while raising awareness and funds for PH. We will begin our event at 10:00am at the Forest Shelter and hope you can join us.
Walking a mile is a big victory for pulmonary hypertension patients, but the true victory will come when we find a cure!
We appreciate your support! Thanks so much for your contribution!
