Phoenix Children's Hospital
This year I am running the 1/2 marathon on behalf of Phoenix Children's Hospital and my honor patient, Alura Obren. At five months old, in the hands of a babysitter, Alura suffered a severe brain injury as the result of shaken baby syndrome. Now at almost nine months, Alura is still in the hospital. She suffers from seizures and is forced to eat from a tube.
Although it is a long road to recovery for Alura, there is hope. The doctors and staff at Phoenix Children's Hospital have worked tirelessly to help Alura, and many children just like her, as they recover from or cope with devastating illnesses. The hospital is one of a kind in the Southwest, and your donations can help to continue this tradition of compassion and service. Please help the hospital and its young patients by supporting me in this 13.1 mile adventure.
