2011 Step Up for Down Syndrome
Thank you so very much for visiting our page,
Kylee is a beautiful two yr old little girl with Down Syndrome. We were told that she only had a 5% chance of living and here she is two yrs later proving everyone wrong. She has been through 2 open heart surgeries and came through like a champ. She has changed so many lives in the short two yrs. Not only those of family and friends but even those she has just happen to come in contact with.
Here is a recent story- she just recently had a two week stay at Childrens Hospital in STL. She was nicknamed the princess of 8East and was visited by all of the nurses and techs that had taken care of her through out her stay. One night one of the techs came in to visit the princess and see how she was doing. They laughed and played for a while and then Kylee started to sign to her. See Kylee does not talk yet but she knows about 20 different signs. The tech soaked up every bit of it. Kept asking her to do different signs and teach her more. Turned out she had a deaf patient down the hall and she was thrilled to be able to communicate with him. I watched my daughter in amazement. Here this two yr old that was counted out was teaching an adult and making the life of another child a little easier with his stay.
Well, this is my daughter. She is truly amazing in so many ways and this is only one story. We appreciate any help that you may be able to give. The DSAGSL helps the individuals and the families in so many ways including the support of new and expecting parents. This is when I first learned of them. Once we were home they reached out to us just to see if we needed anything. The only ones that were truly concerned with the whole family and made us see how she would impact lives just like the tech at the hospital :)
