Baruch College Gives OLPC
VISIT BARUCH COLLEGE GIVES OLPC on FACEBOOK TO LEARN ABOUT THE WORLD FROM WHAT A $199USD BUYS
Thank you for visiting our fundraising page from Professor Gaunt's ANT1001 classes at Baruch College-CUNY!
What will $199 USD buy in your home country? 50 Big Macs in Korea. A pair of jeans in Serbia. It can build 6 houses in Honduras. Feed 1000 people in Bangladesh.
A $199 XO laptop gives you access to the Internet. The Internet gives you access to the world. Since Baruch College has "the world" in its classrooms, by donating $10 or less for laptops, we buy children access to the world.
Last year with only two classes, we raised $597 to buy 3 laptops. This year Prof. G promised a school in Rwanda we would buy 60 laptops. Help us donate $12,836 ($11,940 + site fee). Even as little as 50 cents makes a difference.
Learn about the mission of OLPC
Last Fall 2008, Professor Gaunt's anthropology classes created a OLPC campaign and viral video. Check out last year's video as well as a Nokia ad featuring Professor G as a TED Fellow talking about our project.
By giving a laptop, you are helping bring education to children in some of the world's most remote areas. You are connecting them to each other. To us. To hope. And to a better future with the possibility of an education at their fingertips.
The XO laptop was designed especially for children. It has a rugged plastic exterior, built-in wireless, a unique dual mode display that is readable under direct sunlight and software designed for children to encourage exploration, creativity, and collaboration.
Many thanks for your support -- and don't forget to forward this to anyone who you think might want to donate too! RETWEET this on Twitter and forward it on Facebook please.
