Make a Beautiful Difference
Mama Funk passed away April 15, 2010. She was taken from us by an evil beast called triple negative breast cancer. When she died one of the condolence cards we received said "What a beautiful difference one single life made" on the inside. That resonated with me. I am so incredibly grateful to have had the opportunity to know her and love her. I can say, without a doubt, that she made a beautiful difference in my life.
Advanced treatment options and ultimately the cure did not come soon enough for her. However there are many, and even one is too many, women out there who are still having triple negative breast cancer invade their lives. I'd like to do what I can to make a difference for them.
In an effort to make a beautiful difference in someone’s life, we are taking on THREE challenges in hopes of raising THREE thousand dollars to support The Triple Negative Breast Cancer Foundation AND to support the incredible women faced with the challenges that TNBC imposes on their lives.
To find out more about TNBC please visit: http://www.tnbcfoundation.org/index.html.
My training starts today and the events are:
4 June 2011 - The Northfase Endurance Challenge Half Marathon http://www2.thenorthface.com/endurancechallenge/races/2011/dc/index.html
18 June 2011 - The Baltimore 10 Miler http://www.baltimoretenmiler.com/
13 November 2011 - The Outer Banks Marathon. http://www.obxmarathon.org/Top_Nav/Outer_Banks_Marathon.htm
Yup, I'm going the distance this year in support of women who have had TNBC invade their lives and in memory of Mama. Running a marathon is nothing compared to just one chemo treatment. And these ladies go through treatment after treatment.
Off we go, running like someone ugly is chasing us. After all, why else would you run?
Thank you for your continued support.
