Trapper is a 6 month old, red bloodhound puppy. He was born in a Southeast Bloodhound Rescue foster home when his mother and father, a breeding pair, were turned in to a kill shelter in central Florida by the owners who learned the hard way that breeding bloodhounds is not a 'get rich quick' scheme that works. His littermates were all healthy and adopted to forever homes.
However, between 4 & 5 months of age, when Trapper was ready to go to his forever home, a faulty valve was discovered in his heart. This condition is terminal if not treated, but it is easily correctable. Unfortunately, the cost is just over $2,000. He is an ordinary, happy-go-lucky puppy who relishes life. He just has to enjoy it in much shorter jaunts than his siblings until his heart problem is corrected.
Trapper is a very beautiful boy who needs a good chance in life. Without this surgery, he will simply not live very long.
Will you help me raise money for Trapper? By clicking on the "donate" link, you'll be taken to a secure sight where you can make a donation for Trapper's surgery. My donation is the first one. If you can match that or exceed it, he will be very appreciative - and so will I.
I'll be back here with updates on Trapper - check back often. AND THANK YOU!!
12-08-08 - You are terrific! My original goal of $2000 has been exceeded. Since we have another dog needing, I've increased my goal. Let's keep going!
12-09-08 - Trapper has undergone his pre-surgical examination at the University of Georgia Veterinary Teaching Hospital. It was determined there that, while his condition is very correctable, this particular teaching hospital is not equipped to perform the specific valve repair surgery he needs. Therefore, Trapper has been referred to the University of North Carolina Veterinary Teaching Hospital. His surgery is being scheduled for early January. In the meantime, he is on medications to hold him until surgery can be performed.
1-27-08 -
Trapper's heart surgery was successfully performed on January 15th at the University of North Carolina Teaching Veterinary Hospital. He is recovering very nicely and is now learning how to be a healthy, happy PUPPY. With his recovery period ending, he is now able to play without becoming breathless.
He has the exuberant energy of a normal puppy, which he is experiencing for the first time in his life. SEBR would like to thank everyone who helped us in being able to give Trapper a normal puppy's life!! He should live to be a ripe old age now thanks to your help!!
