Why we conduct our Bowl for Charity event:
While most of us think we can visualize what it must be like for a homeless child in America today, but most likely we have no true idea. In the 7 plus years that we have been involved with raising funds for these children, we have heard unbelieveable stories of how these children live. A large number of these children live in locations where there is no electricity, water or much worse, no roof over their heads. Stories of two sisters taking turns wearing a jacket a week at-a-time during the winter to stay warm. Children sleeping in fields each night, finding their way to a gas station to clean up before school and then not knowing where they will end up when the school day ends. One set of clothes to wear with rare opportunities to wash them. These are just a few of the stories that have been passed on to us.
Through no fault of their own over 15,000 homeless children attending schools in the Phoenix Metro area are faced with situations like the ones above that most of us cannot even imagine and the situation is growing with each passing month. Our fund-raising events (Bowl For Charity and Dine To Donate) focuses on raising funds and awareness to help The Real Gift Foundation's efforts in aiding these children and gathering blankets, sleeping bags and sweaters for these children.
What your donation will do to help these Homeless Children:
The Wilder & Wilder Bowl for Charity fund raiser benefits The Real Gift Foundation (TRGF) which in turn benefits Homeless Children. TRGF creates volunteer projects, oversees fund-raising events and coordinates efforts to raise awareness and resolution of the issues relating to children of homeless families.
These include:
* Providing classroom, library and medical center supplies
* Ensuring that each child has clothing, personal care items and a backpack full of school supplies
* Sponsoring annual toy drives to provide holiday and birthday gifts
* Providing Thanksgiving Dinners for students and their families
* Repairing and replacing playgrounds
* Funding programs that offer education, counseling, outreach, and medical services
Why should you help?
While our schools are partially financed by public funds, community, corporate and individual assistance is needed to help close the huge gap between the limited public funding and the schools’ overwhelming annual budgets.
Donating through this website is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to support our fund-raising efforts.
Many thanks for your support -- and don't forget to forward this page link to anyone who you think might want to donate to help the homeless children!
We sincerely appreciate any amount you may wish to donate or any item needed for these children. Thank you so very much, Larry & Linda
