On April 19, 2010, something amazing is going to happen. The 114th Boston Marathon®!
I can't wait for this day-- I'll be fulfilling my biggest dream by leaping from the race's sidelines to its starting line. And in equally thrilling news, I will be running for Boston Partners in Education, a non-profit that is making a difference in the lives of thousands of Boston Public School students each year.
Boston Partners in Education provides Boston's public school students with the much-needed academic and emotional support of in-school volunteers. It fosters mentoring relationships that can be life-changing. I worked at Boston Partners for three years, and I've seen first graders hurl themselves into the laps of their volunteer mentors, ready to spend lunchtime reading books together. I've seen high school juniors let their guards down and find the answer they had been convinced wasn't there.
Running is a huge part of my life. In many senses, it's saved my life. As a newly diagnosed diabetic, I was lost and confused, and running gave me the sense of purpose and healthiness that I desperately needed. Now it's time for me to use my running to help others. Please consider a donation to help me reach this goal.
Thanks!
