Leo the lion - so courageous!
Hello friends! On January 17, I will be participating in the P.F. Chang’s Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon. I will be running in honor of my friend Leo, a patient at Phoenix Children’s Hospital. Not only will I have the support of my family in the crowd, but Leo's Dad Adam will be running as well! I look foward to seeing him, Leo and the rest of the family at the finish line.
Here is a little information about Leo: Prior to his lymphoma diagnosis, Leo was a perfectly normal and healthy four-year-old boy (and cute, funny, smart, playful!) living with his mom and dad, along with baby sister Madeline (15 months). What started as "my tummy hurts" has led them to the world of cancer - a place no family should have to venture to. His parents, Joy and Adam, greet every day with a smile on a mission to make Leo better!
I am asking that you be a part of this amazing journey with me. As I begin to challenge myself to train, and run, I challenge you to affect the life of a child by sponsoring me with whatever amount you can contribute!
I have been fortunate enough to know what it feels like to truly affect others. The little things we do can make such a difference that we sometimes don't realize the power of "inspiring" others. Leo is my inspiration!
Most people run a race to see who is fastest. I run a race to see who has the most guts. ~Steve Prefontaine
I look forward to showing Leo that I appreciate the guts it takes him overcome the challenges he facees each and every day. I thank everyone who sponsors Adam and I, and help Phoenix Children’s Hospital fulfill our mission to provide hope, healing and the best health care to the children of Arizona. You and Leo will be the ones helping me to find the guts to run in my first half-marathon!
Jogging is very beneficial. It's good for your legs and your feet. It's also very good for the ground. It makes it feel needed. ~Charles Schulz, Peanuts
Leo and I need you! Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to make a contribution to my fundraising efforts -- and don't forget to forward this to anyonw who you think might want to donate too! :)
