Thank you to everyone who donated. We completed the 2.9 km trek up Grouse Mountain, British Columbia on August 30th, 2012. The smiles in the photo mask our utter exhaustion, but we were thrilled to have done this for Farm Sanctuary and the views from the top were breathtaking.
....we took the Gondola back down the mountain.
Farm Sanctuary
Since 1986 Farm Sanctuary has worked to end cruelty to farm animals and promote compassionate living. Farm Sanctuary rescues animals from abject cruelty, exposes the practices of the “factory farming” industry, and advocates for legal protections for farm animals. It does not matter if one is vegetarian or not, most people agree animals should not face intolerable treatment simply because they are bred as livestock. Moreover, factory farming pollutes our atmosphere, oceans and land while posing a serious risk to human health. It’s a nasty business all around!
In one year alone, Farm Sanctuary rescued and provided veterinary and rehabilitative care for 204 farm animals and ongoing care for 800 residents at their sanctuaries. They placed a further 238 rescued animals into loving adoptive homes across the Farm Animal Adoption Network. And last year Farm Sanctuary was named the Non-Profit of the Year by Philanthropedia.
