Mission Statement:
Hypoplastic Right Hearts is a 501(c) 3 nonprofit dedicated to emotional support, and patient education and advocacy for parents and caregivers of children born without a functional right ventricle. Our long term goal is to produce a strong, connected, and informed peer group of parents who can effectively gather and transfer relevant knowledge to these children so they can eventually manage their own health care needs.
More about Hypoplastic Right Hearts:
We provide emotional support and education and advocacy priming for parents, primary caregivers, survivors and their spouses, and bereaved parents of children with specific Congenital Heart Diseases that result in a hypoplastic right ventricle. HRH children typically have at least three open heart surgeries before they start kindergarten, and the life expectancy for this group of children is still unknown, but we have observed a mortality rate of nearly 15% before age four in our group of 530.
