26.2 MILES
So last year I went to Ethiopia.
I met mothers who could not feed their families, children without the means to attend school, and parents preparing to die of AIDS.
I also met mothers running their own businesses and earning an income, families with clean water in their own village, and farmers learning how to irrigate their land. And I met my sponsored child, Degafech. Since World Vision started working with her community, she has been able to start attending school with her brothers and sisters, her family has increased their crop production for food and income, and her mother no longer has to spend her entire day gathering water.
I came back from Africa knowing I had an important job to do: I had to ask people to help. Some of the people I met in Ethiopia had nothing. But it doesn’t have to be that way. I saw how a few dollars can provide someone with water that won’t give them a disease, or feed their entire family for days, or allow them to have a surgery that will restore their sight.
So I’m asking you to help. One dollar, one thousand dollars, no amount is too small. And I can promise that it will be well spent.
And oh yeah, I’m running the marathon on October 7 with Team World Vision. All 26.2 miles. Because I think it’s that important. I'll be in touch...
