WATER FOR LIFE
On Friday May 18th at 5:30pm I will join World Vision and other Chicagoans in Federal Plaza to advocate for communities lacking clean water. Together, we will be raising awareness and funds for this global crisis.
The Need
Water is one of the world's most precious natural resources. And when clean water is scarce, all aspects of life are impacted. Communities suffer from poor health, dying crops and livestock, low levels of economic productivity, and a limited ability to go to school.
Consider this:
- 2.6 billion people around the world lack access to proper sanitation
- 3,800 children die every day from diseases associated with lack of access to safe drinking water, inadequate sanitation and poor hygiene
- Contaminated water and poor sanitation are a factor in 88% of all disease in the developing world
- When a community has access to clean water, the child mortality rate is cut in half
World Vision's Response
Access to clean water and sanitation is foundational to all aspects of development, and often the first work World Vision does in a community.
Your donation will help support World Vision's clean water initiatives around the world. World Vision helps communities lacking clean water by working with the community to drill wells, collect and purify water, construct irrigation systems, and improve sanitation facilities.
Right now, billions of people lack the clean water they need. But there is hope. Thank you for helping change lives around the world.
