Hello Friends!
I feel crazy at times for doing it, but none the less I am excited to tell you that I am training to run a marathon (26.2 miles).
I have dedicated myself to raising a minimum of $1,500.00 for the Operation Second Chance non profit charity organization. It is a very interesting story how I came to sponsor the OSC organization. One day a few months ago, I was attending a networking event in Maryland to facilitate professional business growth. Unknowingly, Cindy McGrew, who is the founder and president of Operation Second Chance, was one of the speakers of the day. Cindy started to tell her story about the encounters she had with wounded soldiers that came back from war, and were struggling financially and emotionally to become acclimated to civilian life. At this moment memories of my grandfather, who served as a lieutenant colonel in the army reserves, and thoughts of friends who were serving the United States overseas, infiltrated my mind. Cindy spoke of the amazing spirit and dedication each soldier exhibited. I came to learn the unsettling information that many of the paraplegic soldiers and their families were in dire need, just to live comfortably. At this moment my heart went out to all the young men and women who returned from war, and hoped there was a way I could help out. OSC has a Marine Corps Marathon fundraising program that I joined right away…. and the rest is history :)
I have had the pleasure of working with OSC to fundraise and expose the existence of the organization at a variety of events.
Your financial support will be a wonderful help as I strive to achieve my goal (even just 5-10$ will go a long way)!
Sincerely,
Lauren Seeley
