Bibliogrrl Goes Bald!
October 24, 2009!
Thank you all for donating. I had hoped to make $500, and this has been beyond my wildest expectations.

HI everyone - as you may know, my mom was diagnosed with breast cancer earlier this summer. We're incredibly lucky that it was caught at stage 1, but there is still a year to go. Mom will be doing chemo, and one of the side effects is that she'll lose her hair.
But I decided that mom will NOT be going bald alone. ("You do realize I already have a wig right?" "I know mom, that isn't the point.")
So I'm going for some teenage rebellion... a bunch of years too late. In honor of my mom and my Grandma Sophie, in honor of my upcoming birthday. Please help me make (or EXCEED) my goal of $1000 for Gilda's Club Chicago and come out to the Beachwood Inn (in Chicago) on 10/24 and watch my hair go away.
I'm even letting Natalie shave my head. So you'll get sibling rivalry and comedy with the floor show. :D
I even already have a couple of really awesome hats.
ps - please let me know if there is anyone you'd like us to think of if you donate. Cancer affects so many people - I'm always amazed by how many I never even knew about.
And thank you all for your generous donations. This is amazing and wonderful and astonishing. :D
