Lauren & Larry's Fundraising Page
Thank you for visiting my fundraising page!
My dear friend Landi was diagnosed with a rare lung desease called LAM Disease(lymphangioleiomyomatosis) not too long after I had my stroke in 2010.
Just to give you some info on LAM:
• it is a rare lung disease that tends to affect women of
• muscle cells that line the lungs' airways and blood vessels
begin to multiply abnormally and spread into areas of the lung
where they don't belong. They can also spread outside the
lung, forming noncancerous tumors on organs in the abdomen
• The air sacs in the lung also swell and form cysts that cause
breathing problems similar to emphysema
• LAM is so rare, it's unknown how often it really occurs. For
example, during a three-year study by researchers, fewer than
250 people with LAM were identified in the U.S. Less than
2,000 women are known to have LAM today.
• LAM is not cancer, but appears similar to other conditions in
which benign tumors grow uncontrollably
• There is no known cause for LAM and currently there is no
The last 11 years of my life have been a whirlwind, and I have been so fortunate to have more love and support than I could ever be deserving of. However, since my stroke almost 2 years ago, I have been humbled and utterly amazed at the outpouring of generosity and the number of people who have genuinely been behind me every step of the way - a multitude of individuals who have essentially shared in this experience and fought this fight right along with me. They have carried me through each and every day.
If I had to stop and think about all of the causes far more worthy of such support and giving than mine, this would be at the top of my list.
If you cannot participate, any and all donations would be greatly appreciated. The proceeds will help fund research in an effort to find a cure.
Donating through this website is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to support my fundraising efforts.
Many thanks for your support -- and don't forget to forward this to anyone who you think might want to donate too!
