Tom Jordan was diagnosed with pulmonary fibrosis in 2007. He lost his battle on May 29, 2012. He was an amazing husband, loving daddy and papaw, and loyal friend who is missed terribly. From this point on, our goal is to help in finding a cure for this debilitating disease. Our family has decided to start an annual 5 K "Love Run" in honor of him. Tom's last words were "Go love everyone you meet," and he truly lived this legacy everyday. So we aren't doing this as a race for awards and such, but are doing this to come together to love on each other and to raise money for a cure. There is currently no cure for this disease, but researchers are working towards finding medications that can alter or stop the condition from worsening. Pulmonary Fibrosis is a lung disorder with progressive scarring and deterioration of the lungs, robbing its victims of their ability to breathe. Approximately 128,000 Americans suffer from this fatal disease with 40,000 succumbing to it each year. All proceeds of this event are to be donated to the Coalition of Pulmonary Fibrosis to support their mission to: help find a cure for idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF).
We will be walking or jogging a 1 mile or 5 K for Tom Jordan on February 15, 2014 starting at Northridge Christian Church in Milledgeville, GA beginning at 10:00am. We know everyone can’t come to Milledgeville, but we hope you can still support our team. This year we hope to raise $5000 for the Coalition for Pulmonary Fibrosis.
