Aiden was rescued the day after Valentine's Day, 2008, from being euthanized at a rural shelter in Virginia.
The shelter workers suspected he had been used as a bait dog for dog fighting, as he had lots of scarring around the face as well as the fact that his teeth appeared to be filed down. Despite all this, Aiden is a sweet little guy, and learning the joys of life, such as sleeping on the couch!
Upon arrival Aiden was severely emaciated, and as bloodwork would later show, he also tested positive for heartworms, which will require treatment that costs $250.
In addition, Aiden’s teeth have been filed down so far that the pulp is exposed in each tooth, making it very painful for him – in order to correct this he will need to have a full mouth extraction, a very expensive procedure. Dr Mark Smith, of the Gaithersburg based Center for Veterinary Dentistry and Oral Surgery has agreed to do the procedure for $2500, which is $1000 less than usual!
So Aiden needs your help – can you donate to help him get that new leash on life he so deserves? Any amount you can give will help get us one step closer to our goal, and to Aiden’s much needed surgery and heartworm treatment, and all donations are tax deductible!
