9th Annual Walkathon
Thank you for visiting my fundraising page!
I have been fighting the battle with Scleroderma and the related secondary diseases for 16 years, blessed in the beginning with a slow progression. All this has changed recently with the addition of lung/heart involvement and the rapid deterioration of my hands.
Scleroderma is considered among the "orphan" diseases, affecting only a minor portion of the population, and therefore not a profitable area for drug companies or the NIH to fund research. As a result, the Scleroderma Foundation's Walkathon is one of the only significant sources of funding for research grants. Each year nationwide the teams have raised enough to sponsor as much as $1,000,000. I am proud (and very grateful) to report that our team, Seiler's Strollers, hit our goal of $10,000 last year!
Once again, I am asking you to donate. We want research to push the envelope and aim towards cures, not just medicines to mask symptoms. Donating through this website is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to support my fundraising efforts.
Many thanks for your support -- and don't forget to forward this to anyone who you think might want to donate too!
